"Starving Farmer" Popcorn Co. found its beginning after losing our three generation farm to bankruptcy.  Our primary crop at the time was potatoes which involves a large investment and high risk. Bad economic times and cruel weather brought us to our end. With no job and most of our assets gone we searched for some way to keep groceries on the table and the bill collectors from our door. We had been experimenting with growing Japanese hulless popcorn  and were able to retain possesion of a number of bins at a local warehouse. The local fruit stand was buying it in bulk and repackaging it for resale. Customers loved the flavor and the thin hull and kept coming back for more. We loved the popcorn ourselves and had tried many other hulless varieties and found that the Japanese hulless had the best flavor by far. We decided to package it ourselves and sell it on Ebay. We needed to come up with a name for our label.  With no money and no job the name "Starving Farmer" seemed like the obvious choice. The popcorn did very well and our positive customer feedback was very encouraging. It did so well we set up our own website and expanded our market to more fruitstands and gift shops in the northwest. We continue to grow popcorn and I have to admit it is a much more fun product to sell than potatoes.  It's been a ruff and bumpy road, but the good Lord has blessed our endeavor and we trust that better days are yet to come.
